Which amount should you enter?
Enter the amount of each bill, not its monthly equivalent. You can add up to 20 expenses and select weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual payments. Use your own amounts: the tool does not look up prices or detect subscriptions.
How are different frequencies compared?
The annual calculation multiplies weekly payments by 52, monthly payments by 12 and quarterly payments by 4; annual payments count once. Annual amounts are added and the total is divided by twelve. The monthly equivalent is rounded to the nearest cent once, using that total.
Example: three different payments
A €10.00 weekly payment totals €520.00 a year; a €15.00 monthly payment, €180.00; and a €120.00 annual payment, €120.00. Together they cost €820.00 a year or €68.33 a month equivalent. Without the monthly payment, the total becomes €640.00 a year and €53.33 a month.
What does excluding an expense mean?
Excluding a payment shows the mathematical difference from the total. It does not cancel a service or check commitments, penalties or price changes. The monthly equivalent helps compare costs; it is not a payment calendar. The 52 week convention may differ from actual bills in a particular year.
Frequently asked questions
Practical questions about the inputs and result.
- Do you need to enter bank details?
- No. Add the amounts and frequencies manually. You can use generic names to identify each payment.
- Does the monthly total show what you will pay this month?
- Not necessarily. It divides the annual cost by twelve, even if several bills fall in one month. Check payment dates separately to know when you need the money.
