Frequently asked questions
Why don't you connect to my bank?
Deliberate decision. We don't want to ask for banking credentials or pipe your data through an aggregator. Tracking your movements by hand takes less time than it seems and makes you far more aware of where your money goes.
Where is my data stored, and is it safe?
First on your own device (browser local storage). If you sign in, it's also stored on European servers, encrypted in transit and at rest and tied only to your email. We never connect to your bank or ask for credentials. No ads, no tracking, no third parties. End-to-end encryption is on the roadmap.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Sumant is local-first: everything you track lives on your device first and the app works without a connection. When you're back online, it syncs automatically.
How does it sync between my devices?
When you sign in with your email, Sumant syncs your data automatically across phone, computer and tablet. Change something on one and it shows up on the others instantly.
Can I have multiple accounts (bank, cash, card)?
Yes. Create as many accounts as you need — bank, cash, card, savings — each with its own currency and starting balance. You can also transfer between them.
Can I set a monthly budget per category?
Yes. From Settings → Budgets you set a monthly cap for each expense category. The dashboard shows what's left, and when you go over, a terracotta bar flags it without the guilt trip. Included in the free plan.
How do recurring transactions work?
Set up a recurring expense or income (salary, rent, subscriptions) with its frequency. Sumant records it automatically every time it's due, with no input from you. Available in the PRO plan.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Sumant is a web app that runs directly in the browser on any modern phone. No downloads, no app stores. Same on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows or iPad.
Is it free or do I have to pay?
The free plan includes unlimited income and expenses, multi-account, monthly dashboard and all the basics. PRO (€2.49/mo, €24.99/year or €69 lifetime) adds recurring, custom categories, unlimited goals, advanced analytics and CSV export.
Can I export my data?
Yes, anytime. Free: JSON · PRO: CSV (compatible with Excel and Google Sheets).
Can I delete my account?
Anytime, from Settings → Account → Delete account. And deleted means deleted: your data disappears from both your device and our servers.
How is it different from Fintonic, Mooney or Excel?
We don't connect to your bank, don't ask for credentials, don't fill the screen with confusing charts and you don't need accounting knowledge. Unlike Excel, Sumant doesn't get abandoned in March.
How does the PRO free trial work?
Signing up and using the free plan needs no card. The PRO trial does ask for one, but there's no charge for 7 days. On day 7 the option you chose is billed (monthly, yearly or lifetime) and we email you 3 days before. Cancel in two taps from Settings → Account, no penalty.
How do I cancel if it's not for me?
From Settings → Account, in two taps and without calling anyone. No lock-in, no penalty. If you cancel, you keep using the free plan with all your data intact.
Who's behind it and how do I reach you?
Sumant is an independent project made with care in Spain. If you have questions or something breaks, write to us from the Contact page and a person replies, not a bot.
What if Sumant ever shuts down?
Your data lives on your own device first, not on a server you depend on. You can export all of it in one click anytime. Whatever happens to Sumant, your history is yours and you take it with you.
Which languages and currencies does it support?
Sumant is in Spanish and English, and supports 26 currencies. You can hold accounts in different currencies, ideal if you live or spend across several European countries.
